Muroran is located to the SW of Hokkaido island on a small peninsula jutting into the sea at the entrance of the Uchiura Bay. To the east is the North Pacific Ocean. The City of Kodiak is situated on the second largest island in the United States, SW of Anchorage in the Gulf of Alaska.
