Viking River cruises focus primarily on cultural enrichment and shore excursions, choosing not to include casinos or stage performances. Instead, the cruises often feature special guests who deliver lectures and participate in speaking forums. Each Viking itinerary includes one or more destination performances, which highlight an iconic art form specific to the region visited, enhancing the cultural immersion.

While Viking River ships do not have any fitness equipment, you can enjoy a walk around the Sun Deck for your daily exercise, or take part in the shore excursions and walking tours.

All guests must be 18 years old on or before the day they are scheduled to embark on their cruise; Viking do not maintain facilities or services on board for younger individuals.
