Carnival Sunshine sails from Charleston, South Carolina, offering short 4 and 5 night visits to Nassau in the Bahamas. The longer cruise also visits the company resort of Half Moon Cay. Occasionally there are longer cruises to three ports in the Leeward Islands. On board are a new 3-deck Serenity relaxation centre for adults, Carnival Waterworks, and SportsSquare which offer a wide range of activities for sea days. The ship attracts families with children.In 1996 she was the first ship to exceed 100,000 GT (at 101,353 GT). Given her 2018 refurbishment, Carnival Sunshine now carries 3,006 passengers, and sports a Carnival Seaside Theatre and new "Circle C" facility for the 12-14s. Features include three pools, a variety of dining options, lounges, nightclubs, giant casino, and spa and fitness centre. Entertainment includes Las Vegas-style floor shows, state-of-the-art theatre, sing-along piano bar, dance club, and jazz and cabaret room. Families and children are very well catered for.
