Le Champlain Cruises

Le Champlain set sail under the French flag in September 2018. Named after famous French explorers, these sleek five-star luxury vessels will have the finest equipment for safety and stability. The ships are designed to venture into Polar regions and remote ports that allow passage to small ships, with a shallow 4.6m draught. The ship’s cuisine will be emphatically French, offering menus in partnership with Ducasse Conseil, a company from famed chef Alain Ducasse.

All cabins have private balconies, air conditioning, two twins that can be pushed together to form a king-sized bed, shower, complimentary mini-bar, flat-screen television with satellite and video on demand, a desk with stationery, iPod, safe, hair dryer, bathrobes and fine French bath products. Staterooms will be brand new, reflecting contemporary French design. Seventy-nine of the staterooms are for two guests, at 19 sq.m. with 4 sq.m. balcony and shower. Five De Luxe Suites for up to 3 guests are larger at 27 sq.m. Four Privilege Suites are larger again at 32 sq.m. and cater for four guests.

The largest suites, at 45 sq.m., are the three Grand De Luxe Suites and the one Owner’s Suite. All of these have 30 sq.m. balconies on deck 6 overlooking the wake of the ship. The Grand Deluxe and Privilege Suites have a bathtub instead of a shower. Note that all of the suites have a butler service. Meals come with room service to every stateroom throughout the day, and are complimentary. Many staterooms can be linked. There are two wheelchair accessible staterooms, though guests with limited mobility would do well to read up on the company’s advice and requirements.)
