Taking her maiden voyage in 2000, the Zaandam can carry up to 1440 passengers with a 61,396 GT. Hallmarks of HAL include spacious staterooms and public areas, rich timber furnishings set with museum-quality paintings and antiques, discreet personal service, and artful itineraries that allow for overnights in key cities.Zaandam’s 2015 refit upgraded many features of HAL’s Signature of Excellence program: the Pinnacle Grill alternative restaurant, the Neptune Lounge for suite guests, and the Culinary Arts Centre with demonstration kitchen. Appealing to older guests are the traditional features – high tea, formal nights, antique displays and ballroom dancing – while contemporary features appeal to younger guests. The theme aboard the Zaandam is flowers and fresh displays. It has plenty of places on deck for solitude, and inside an extensive library, and impressive three-deck atrium with a 7m-high Baroque-style pipe organ to highlight its music-related décor.
