Shingu is a small city (pop. 29,000) located in the Wakayama Prefecture, Japan. It is located on the largest of Japan’s islands, Honshu. It lies on the south bank of Kumano River, and the smaller town of Kiho in the Mie Prefecture on the north bank. The Kumano River – arguable one of the most beautiful rivers in all of Japan – enters the Pacific Ocean.
