Shenzhen, in the People’s Reupblic of China, lies 17km due north of Hong Kong International Airport, and adjacent to the New Territories region of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Shenzhen is a major city in Guangdong Province, with a population of over 10 million. In 1980 it was designated China’s first Special Economic Zone, and during the 1990s and 2000s was one of the fastest growing cities in the world.
