Meatimiarang Island is part of Indonesia's outer islands located in the Timor Sea, between the countries of Timor Leste (East Timor) and Australia. The island is part of the Regency of West Southeast Maluku, Maluku. Of all Indonesia’s 17,000 islands, this is one of the closest to Darwin in Australia (524 km away). The island itself is boomerang-shaped, 2.9 km long and 600 m wide at the centre, one of a crescent string of islands stretching E-W.
