Puerto Princesa City (pop. 255,000) is the westernmost city of the Philippines, situated on the island of Palawan. Spanish colonisers founded the city in 1872, and since then it has passed through administrations of the US and Japan. The port at Puerto Princesa is located approximately 1.5 km from the city centre. This is a tourist city with many beach resorts and seafood restaurants, and is also known as the cleanest and greenest city in the Philippines.
