Cruises from Puerto Deseado
Puerto Deseado (Port Desire, population 15,000) is a fishing port on the E coast of Argentina. The port is at the mouth of the Deseado River, in that southern part of South America named Patagonia. Interestingly, the port was first discovered by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520. The most renowned visitor was HMS Beagle in 1834, conveying Charles Darwin. Today the port’s main economy is based on the fishing industry.
