Cruises from Puerto Cortes
Puerto Cortés is a city of 126,000 located on the north Caribbean coast of Honduras. It is the largest seaport in Central America. The port is in a bay, and adjacent to the bay the city is built around the sizeable Alvarado lagoon, its longest diameter 4.5 km. The city has developed in the 20th C after the railroad reached the port, and its major export has been bananas. Currently bananas, coffee, coconuts, hardwood, and flour are the principal exports.
