Cruises from Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia
Port Hawkesbury (pop. 3200) is a town on the SW end of Cape Breton Island, in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. The port lies on the north side of the narrow Strait of Canso (about 30 km long), opposite the mainland of Nova Scotia. The Strait is crossed (1955) by a 1385 m rock-filled causeway with a canal to allow shipping to navigate the Strait. The town is a service centre for the adjacent industrial complex at Point Tupper.
