Cruises from Narvik
Narvik is a well protected, ice-free port with a deep-water harbor, located on the shores of the Narvik Fjord. This is in Nordland county, part of the Ofoten traditional region of North Norway, inside the Arctic Circle. It is the third largest city and municipality in Norway by population. The port developed in the 1870s to export iron ore brought by rail from the mines at Kiruna, Sweden, 140 km to the east (and today exports 25 million tonnes a year).
