Magong is an island and city in the Penghu archipelago of 90 islands in the Taiwan Strait. The island of Taiwan lies 50 km east of Magong. The mainland People’s Republic of China lies 150 km to the west. Magong is part of the Republic of China. The Penghu Islands of Taiwan have a rich history of piracy, imperialism and colonization.
