Half Moon Caye is an island and official ‘natural monument’ of Belize. It is located 80 km SE of Belize City, and at the SE corner of the Lighthouse Reef Atoll, 41 km long and around 9 km wide. A natural monument is selected for its scenic beauty and unique geographical features, of which there are five in Belize. They are typically pristine, wilderness ecosystems. Half Moon Caye was the first nature reserve to have been established in Belize.
