Cruises from Glacier El Brujo
El Brujo Glacier (‘The Wizard’) is situated in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, that is part of the Bernado O’Higgins National Park, the largest protected area in Chile. Ships branch off the major N-S Sarmiento Channel into Peel Fjord, which in turn has three side fjords: Amalia, Asia and Calvo. At the head of the Asia Fjord is El Brujo Glacier. It is a relatively small glacier, yet presents an enormous wall of blue ice falling into the sea.
Read moreThe blueness is due to the absorption of non-blue colours by water, and also the lack of fine air bubbles in the ice. This is a tidewater glacier, that is, one that flows down to the sea.
