Cruises from Fergusson Islands
Fergusson Island, the largest island of the D'Entrecasteaux Islands, Papua New Guinea, lies 50 km across Ward Hunt Strait from the SE tip of New Guinea, in the Solomon Sea. It has an area of 1,437 km2, and mostly consists of mountainous regions, covered by stunning tropical bush. The principal settlements, Salamo and Mapamoiwa, are on the southern coast. Visitors are welcomed by a group of village men who paddle out in traditional handmade canoes to accompany you to shore.
