Blaye is a commune and sub-prefecture in the Gironde department of Aquitaine in SW France. Located on the right bank of the Gironde Estuary, Blaye boasts of being the cradle of a great vineyard. Its wines are recognised worldwide. The citadel of Blaye is now listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Admission is free and it is always open.
