Kerrie was lucky enough to sail aboard MSC Euribia out of Hamburg. A very new ship, she had her inaugural cruise in June 2023. She’s an LNG-powered ship with a large environmental focus.
For such a large ship (6,300 passengers), I was pleasantly surprised with the check in process. There were plenty of counters and from the time we got out of our bus until, we were onboard in less than 20 minutes.
The ship is incredible - it doesn’t even feel like you are on a ship. The walkways are very large and open, especially the promenade where they have the biggest LED Dome at sea! The shops were all very well priced and had everything you could possibly need aboard, eg chemist, clothes etc. We did a tour of the kid’s club which was large and had a special space for each age group (7 rooms), as well as a baby’s room. I really like that when the kids club isn’t open to look after children, they open so families can use the facilities together (mum and dad can come up into the space and supervise their own kids while the whole family plays with all the toys in there).
The spa on board is better than a lot of spas I have been to! Options galore - hair salon for both men and women, a nail salon, massage options and a Thermal Spa area. There was so much entertainment on board that there was never a moment that you didn’t have something to do! There were always bands playing, bingo, trivia and other activities for everyone. There was an F1 simulator, VR rooms, bowling alleys and a full indoor basketball court. In the warmer months there is a water park, three indoor and outdoor pools plus three water slides (yes we tried them in 5-degree weather!) and a high ropes course. The theatre shows were good but as the ship caters for so many languages, they were all non-speaking shows, singing or dancing or some sort of act. I liked that their theatre shows were only 35 minutes.
The Thermal spa area was a real winner for everyone in our group. The area has saunas, steam baths, whirlpools, salt rooms and an ice room. I would highly recommend anyone that wants to relax purchases a pass for the entire cruise (cheaper than daily).
I was in a balcony stateroom, which was very large with the 2-seater couch in it. All rooms had a tv screen, wardrobe, large balconies, and a mini bar restocked each day, depending on room type. The cabin was well designed with plenty of storage and power points with USB beside both beds and on the dressing table. The bathrooms were small but perfectly formed with plenty of storage and no nasty shower curtain. The housekeeping was very efficient and made sure that they were available.
There are 22 bars and lounges which are spread all over the ship and cater for everyone. These range from an English pub, wine bar, champagne lounge to a dedicated karaoke bar and many more. The bars are all spectacular, all serving different drinks and cocktails making each bar unique. There are four included restaurants, one being the buffet, and a range of speciality dining. The three speciality dining restaurants are Kaito Teppanyaki, Hola! Tacos and Le Grill. The buffet was amazing, so much choice, so fresh and they have pizza available 24 hours.
MSC Euribia also features a ship-within-a-ship experience - The Yacht Club which I would highly recommend to anyone that wants a little bit of a quieter experience or is a premium traveller.
There were several shore excursions that you could choose from in each destination, however, some of the day trips are very long. I liked that they did a paid shuttle from the ship to the main town in every destination. The excursions ranged from just transfers to the main cities to fully guided tours. I did a shore excursion to Gouda and I did a Bruges on your own tour. The tours were very easy to understand when you needed to get off the ship and what bus you were on. The night before the tour they would leave your ticket with all the details in your room. I would suggest you book these before you go as the prices in AUD were much better than the EUR prices onboard, this goes for everything in the ship, do it in AUD before you go!
We had the Easy Plus Drinks package which was so good! We could get most things included in this package, there were some champagnes at the Champagne lounge that were not included in it but aside from that, very good. Wi-Fi on board was Starlink and really fast.
I was very impressed with this ship, it is beautiful and the staff were all incredibly friendly too. I think most people would enjoy this ship, although it is a large ship with a lot of people onboard, it didn't feel like it and remember for those who like the Yacht Club experience is always an option!
