Setting sail from the vibrant city of Miami, our cruise aboard the Icon of the Seas was an experience that surpassed all expectations. From the moment we stepped foot on this magnificent vessel to the breathtaking Perfect Day at CocoCay, every aspect of our journey was filled with wonder and excitement.
As we approached the bustling port of Miami, the Icon of the Seas loomed large on the horizon, its towering presence a testament to its grandeur. Check-in was a breeze, with the friendly staff guiding us through the process smoothly. Stepping onto the ship, we were immediately struck by the spaciousness of the promenade, and the striking staircase in the centre. Unlike some other cruise ships we've been on, there was no sense of overcrowding here, despite the size of the ship. Instead, we found ourselves enveloped in a welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of room to explore and have fun. Our accommodations onboard the Icon of the Seas were nothing short of impressive. Our stateroom was well-appointed, with smart storage solutions and many USB points located throughout. While the bathrooms weren’t overly large, they still offered clever storage solutions and a large shower with a seat. Things to note - shampoo/body wash is a combo pump pack, so if you are precious about your skin and hair care, we suggest packing your own.
From Natalya - Watching the musical Wizard of Oz was my highlight - so incredible that this production is all included in your cruise fare.
Icon of the Seas has delivered 14 new stateroom types, including the 3 storey Ultimate Family Townhouse featuring internal slide, trampoline floor, movie room, jacuzzi on the deck, interactive dining table, bunk room for the kids and of course a wonderful parents’ retreat. There are 11 unique Suite categories onboard, in addition to Infinite Balcony Staterooms (taking Celebrity’s innovative Infinite Balcony concept), plus a number of other Interior-facing Balconies also. One of the highlights of our onboard experience was the entertainment. Icon of the Seas is truly reinventing what is possible not only at sea but raising the stakes worldwide for entertainment. The Theatre offered Wizard of Oz Broadway shows twice daily, complete with high-wire support to lift the performance over the audience. This was complemented by a live orchestra, and multi-level moving stage flooring, ensuring you were always dazzled by what was happening. The ice-skating performance also mixed things up with light shows and juggling incorporated into the show. We were particularly impressed by the Aqua Nation show, which featured breathtaking displays of high-diving paired with aerial high-wire performers, synchronised swimming, and sound and light shows, all housed inside the 3-storey high AquaDome. Of course, no cruise would be complete without delicious food, and Icon of the Seas certainly delivered on that front. With a variety of dining options to choose from, we were spoiled for choice. Whether dining at the Windjammer buffet or indulging in a gourmet meal at the Empire Supper Club, every dish was a culinary delight.
From Danielle - Pre-book as much as you can before you get on-board because it can get hectic on-board trying to run to all the activities/dining venues to book everything- that's probably my biggest tip - then it would be to get priority tenders/disembarkation for port days, book a shore excursion.
But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Icon of the Seas was its facilities. Thrill Island, home to the largest waterpark at sea, provided endless fun for guests of all ages. From thrilling slides to splash zones, there was no shortage of excitement to be had. And for those seeking a more serene experience, Central Park offered a tranquil oasis amidst the hustle and bustle of the ship, surrounded by stunning gardens. Our journey aboard the Icon of the Seas took us to some of the most beautiful destinations in the Caribbean. We especially enjoyed our day at CocoCay, where we lounged on the beach, swam in the crystal-clear waters, and indulged in delicious food and drinks. We were fortunate to be given a full tour of the island including all of the private cabanas and overwater bungalows for daily use and can readily recommend different areas depending on your needs. In conclusion, our experience aboard the Icon of the Seas was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're a seasoned cruiser or embarking on your very first voyage, we cannot recommend the Icon of the Seas highly enough. With 28 different types of staterooms, world-class entertainment, and unforgettable destinations, it truly is the ultimate cruise experience for families or young at heart. Don't miss your chance to sail away on this magnificent ship and create memories that will last a lifetime.
