Spanish Delights with Ibiza & Mallorca

Seville is the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain, and represents all that is Andalucian - flamenco, the horses, toros and more. It is a child of the Arab occupation and domain from which it acquired its flourishing architecture and personality. However it was reconquered by the Catholic kings, so it is not surprising that the city's cathedral, built from 1401–1519 and lavishly decorated with a lot of gold evident, sits on the former site of the city's mosque. Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria, situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. A big, bustling, whitewashed city, the modern part is built along the seashore and is overlooked by the old part set on a hill, the ancient city of the deys (Ottoman rulers), and crowned at the top (122 m above the sea) by the historic neighbourhood of the Casbah (citadel and quarter surround it) dating to the 17th century. Ibiza Town, or as the locals call it Vila d’Eivissa, is situated on the SE coast of the Spanish island of Ibiza, of which it is the capital. Most famous for its night life - indeed the island is regarded the undisputed Party Capital of the World - two of the island's most luxurious nightclubs, Pacha and El Divino, are located in Ibiza Town itself, while the nightclub Space is just south of the town. Palma de Mallorca is the major city and port on the Mediterranean island of Majorca, and capital city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. It is situated on the south coast of the island on the Bay of Palma, and almost half of the total population of Majorca live there. Visitors are spellbound by its blue waters, white beaches, lush foliage (almost 40 percent of the island is protected countryside), and 300 days of sunshine each year. Castellon de la Plana on the Canary Islands of Spain was originally an inland town, but was moved closer to the coast in the 13th century. It has an interesting old town area that is well worth a visit. Fans of archaeology will be particularly interested in the Torres dels Alcaments Museum located at Plaza de las Aguilas, as its structure is made of the fourteenth century walls of the original fortified city.
