Phang Nga (aka Phangnga) is a small town, capital of the province of the same name in the south of Thailand, on the west side of the Malay Peninsula and 50km north of the tourist centre Phuket. The town is 12 km north of Phang Nga Bay. The region is notable for its limestone karsts, caves and rock formations, which are encapsulated in the provincial slogan: "Massive mining industry, Ban Klang Nam "floating house" (that’s a local well-known floating restaurant), delightful caves, strangely shaped hills, Jampun flower, rich in resources".
