    Adventure Bay is a small township and a bay on the eastern side of South Bruny Island, Tasmania. The first European to sight the bay was Abel Tasman in the Heemskerck in 1642. The bay proved to be an ideal anchorage and source of fresh water for explorers in the late 18th C., notably the Captains Tobias Furneaux in his ship HMS Adventure, James Cook in HMS Resolution, William Bligh in HMS Bounty, Bruni d’Entrecasteaux aboard Recherché, and Matthew Flinders in the sloop Norfolk.
